Ok all of you! (Kai Devrie, Leo.Tess) you should have the pictures taken for your animoto or vimeo video for your website, you should also be working on your 3D project, take pictures of the process and post them on your website.  The completed portfolio is your final grade.A rubric will be posted in the next few days. Do a good job, you should make something you will be proud of :)

I need to hear from you...all of you!

I want you all to tell me how your landscapes are going (I already have seen a few) did you post them to your website? Now you should be taking lots of pictures for your animoto. Remember you seniors, you only have 20 something more school days until graduation!!!! This digital portfolio is your final exam grade. This week I will publish your final rubric to make sure you meet all the requirements....and keep having fun!

Late....but not forgotten

Hi all you advanced art students, I know I haven't blogged to you for awhile, forgive me. Since you have a nice long break next week it could be a good time to really get your portfolio in order. This will be your final exam with a little assignment included at the end. By now you should have your work posted,including your portfolio page, you should have an intro page that will tell a reader what your goals are (for the future) your work and school experience and any other information you want to include(as long as it's appropriate)
As you know our theme for the last 9 weeks of school is nature and observational drawing. What this means is you will be drawing/painting landscapes both in the classroom and out. Look at the mountains all arond town, sketch their shapes and notice the change of color and value in the hills at different times of day.
 We will also focus on some sketchbook drawing from life.That means take your sketchbook to the golfcourse by Macy center and look up at all those trees and fill the pages of your sketchbook. Or go down to the river and draw those amazing cottonwood trees. Try drawing only the sky behind the tree and watch the tree emerge in your drawing (think negative space)
We'll look at your work when you get back (even from Wyoming :) And do more. See you soon

Dezirae, I'm sorry if I wasn't clear on the website. I will make a rubric, good suggestion. Don't stress, this is a learning experience. I want you all to be comfortable with websites,blogging and as much technology as possible before you go to college.....It can all get pretty intense once you're there, so it's best if you learn all this first.

Dez, I know you are busy, but you NEED to add more to your website. Please tell more on your introduction and take some pictures of your art. I know you have some in a sketchbook from last year, your calligraphy,prints, did you do a perspective room? you have a lot to be proud of, brag about your self a bit :) In the next couple of days you need to work on the website and finish up your portrait. You should have a soccer page, can you get articles that were published in the paper from the internet and attach them to your page? You are off to a very nice start, keep going....

Portrait Page and Responding

Hi Everyone, Some of you have not commented on some of the last questions I posted. Part of your grade for this class is contributing(in a mature,appropriate way) to the blog. Dezirae and Devrie, I have not heard what you think about creating the website.

You should also have a portrait page with :

•  A digital portrait posted on your portrait page along side of a photo of the one you drew from the original photo.
• 3 digitally manipulated images from the same portrait.
• You should be working on an enlarged (gridded) self portrait in the medium of your choice.

Create  a nice composition (design of the page) and added comments about the processes etc.

This will complete your portrait page. you have until Feb. 13 to complete these. (then we'll make valentines for a day or 2 :)

Hi Everyone,
From now on I will post your weekly assignments on this blog. So you need to check it everyday. I also expect you to make comments about the assignments or work on the website. These will be weekly participation grades. Now that you all know how to comment,I don't want to see comments that just take up space and are borderline appropriate. I need to see writing that reflects the fact that all of you are in upper level classes at the high school (11th and 12th).

Follow this checklist to make sure all this is complete in time for the progress reports next week (Jan. 30):

• Publish picture (or image) to identify you on the blog
• Complete you Introduction or Homepage, including a picture of you on your website
• Have a photo that will be the basis of your self portrait page, you will work with this photo in a variety of mediums, including technology
• Have a separate page completed on your website with at least 10 pictures of 2 dimensional work (from your sketchbook too)
• Respond to the following question on the blog in an intelligent and thoughtful way in at least 200 words;

What has been easy for you when creating the webpage, what has been difficult and what,in your opinion, would be a good addition to our webpage?

I encourage all of you to work on this at home AND in class. we will be doing some drawing starting Jan.30,so you will not be able to work on the computers much in class during that week. See you tomorrow, LH
